Buildings

Wessex Arts Centre

The Arts Centre is home to our dance studio and fully-equipped, 106 seat capacity theatre. This venue is regularly used for public drama and dance productions as well as A Level courses in these areas. The Wessex Arts Centre was originally named ‘Berkoff Theatre’, after actor Steven Berkoff.

Learning Hub

Situated in the middle of the campus, our purpose-built Learning Hub offers excellent resources for your independent work with helpful and experienced staff on hand to help. The Learning Hub consists of:

  • A well-stocked library to support the courses taught at the college
  • An extensive area of computers for students’ independent work
  • Range of software, scanners, colour photocopier and laser printers
  • A large quiet working area
  • A growing collection of electronic texts
  • A good selection of stimulating magazines
  • A growing collection of relevant DVDs
  • An online catalogue of resources
  • Experienced staff to supervise and help

Sports Hall

The Sports Hall is where our physical education and sport students spend most of their time. The building homes a large sports hall, fully-equipped gym and a number of classrooms for the theory side of sport and exercise courses and is conveniently located adjacent to our large sports field.

Foulkes

The original building of Alton Campus, Foulkes is made up of classrooms and workshops to support a wide range of subjects. Health & social care, public services, business studies and childcare are just some of the subject areas you’ll find in this block.

Beacon Science Centre

The Beacon Science Centre is home to our fantastic laboratories used by chemistry, physics and biology students. There is an open plan work area available for students doing independent study.

Michael Gray Building

The Michael Gray building is a creative haven for budding artists and musicians. Students on art courses regularly work and exhibit their projects in this building which is home to art and design and textiles courses. The lower-level floor is where our excellent music facilities are based which include a recording studio, state-of-the-art music technology facilities and several rehearsal rooms.

Stevens & Student Hub

The Stevens building is where you will be able to visit the Student Hub to find information on any aspect of college life, from funding, finance and transport to Higher Education and careers advice. The Student Hub is open throughout the day during term time. Our fantastic photography department is opposite the Student Hub and has excellent facilities, including a darkroom and studio, to support students on photography courses.

Austen Building

Austen is home to our state-of-the-art media facilities including a TV studio, control room and editing suites. English, modern foreign languages and humanities are based in the Austen building. The Dynamic Learning Centre is also located in the Austen building and is used by all subjects as a break-out learning environment.

Sonardyne Building

The Sonardyne Building is a state-of-the-art engineering and design technology building housing several industry-standard fully furnished workshops.
