A Peep at Pride and Prejudice

A level Drama & Theatre Studies students took part in ‘Potted Jane’ in Alton Public Gardens recently as part of the Austen Anniversary Celebrations. College students joined pupils from Amery Hill School, Eggar’s School and Alton Convent School in presenting open-air productions of well-loved Austen novels. The event was staged on the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen leaving Chawton for the last time before she moved to Winchester. The College students delivered A Peep at Pride and Prejudice dress in Regency-style costumed lent by the Jane Austen House museum, much to the delight of the audience. Head of Drama and Theatre Studies at Alton College, Kevin Davey said ‘The students have loved working on A Peep at Pride and Prejudice. We wanted to adapt the opening of the novel to the stage in an engaging and creative manner for the audience and I’m so proud of their total commitment and dedication in achieving that aim.’
