Bar Mock Trial

The Bar Mock Trial team recently took part in the South Regional round of the Young Citizens Mock Trial Competition held at Guildford Crown Court.  The competition is a unique opportunity for students aged 15-18 from all over the UK to gain unparalleled insight into the justice system. The competition immerses students in all aspects of a criminal trial, as they take on the roles of barristers, witnesses, clerks, ushers and jury members. The team were up against some strong competition from 6 other schools and colleges from across the south and finished second overall. The students had to prepare both prosecution and defence cases for two fictional trials, one involving an acid attack and one a money laundering racket.

The College Bar Mock Trial is an enrichment course and is open to students studying all subjects. This year the diverse team consisted of Law students and students studying a wide variety of A level and vocational courses. The students were great ambassadors for the College and should be proud of their achievement.
