Earth Sciences expedition

Isabel Carter studied A levels in Biology, Maths, Physics and the EPQ at Alton College leaving in 2016, and is now studying Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford. This summer, she is leading a Geological Mapping expedition to South Greenland. Her group will be spending seven weeks based in the small village of Igaliku, producing a detailed geological map of the surrounding area. Additionally, as part of the expedition, they are running an associated outreach project aiming to encourage the study of earth sciences and participation in expeditions. This involves both speaking to school pupils (via school visits and science fairs), and putting content onto their blog. Isabel will also be coming back to College to give some talks about her university studies and expeditions to current Geography and Physics students.

In order to raise some of the funds necessary for the expedition, Isabel is running a crowdfunding campaign through her College at Oxford, St Anne's. The page, which includes more details of her expedition, can be found here.

We look forward to welcoming Isabel back to College after Easter and to hearing more about her exciting projects.
