Information about withdrawn section of Stagecoach 613 service

The College is providing a minibus service to replace the withdrawn section of the 613 Stagecoach bus route.  You can book your place on this service by clicking on this link.

The proposed route is detailed below but this will be dependent on final student numbers.

Journey to College     Journey from College
Herriard, St Mary’s Church 09:15      Alton College 16:20
Bentworth, Star Inn 09:25   Beech, Wellhouse Road bus stop
Medstead, War Memorial 09:30   Medstead, War Memorial
Beech, Wellhouse Road bus stop 09:35   Bentworth, Star Inn
Alton College 09:45   Herriard, St Mary’s Church

The cost of this service will be £225 per term and payment needs to be made online at the time of booking.  Places on this service are not guaranteed until payment has been received by the College and duly acknowledged.  Payment can either be made on a termly basis or for all three terms.  The deadline for booking a place for the Autumn term is Friday 30th August 2019 to enable us to finalise the route before the start of next term.

You'll be pleased to know that our College is just a short walk from Alton train station and the town centre. Many of the public buses stop right outside our College too, and services run throughout the academic term.

Our address is Old Odiham Road, Alton, Hampshire GU34 2LX.

We would advise you to purchase your train ticket or bus pass as early as possible please. It can take 7 - 10 working days for train tickets to arrive at College (ready for collection on the first day of term) and up to two weeks for you to receive your bus pass (posted to your home address by Stagecoach).

By train

For 16 and 17 year old students the new 16-17 Railcard offers a 50% discount on rail travel. For more information and to purchase please see the website here: 16-17 Saver

N.B Some of our Alton College train tickets may remain cheaper than those the 16-17 Railcard can offer, but we would strongly advise all students and parent/carers to look into the 16-17 Railcard to make their own decision on which is the most cost effective.

For 18+ year old students, and those opting not to buy the 16-17 Railcard, travelling from Farnham, Guildford, Aldershot or beyond we've agreed a discount travelling by South Western Railway. Train tickets can be bought from 12th August 2019 onwards via the Online Store

By bus

Stagecoach timetabled buses service the College. Please see the Bus Network Map and Timetable 2019-20.

Student tickets are purchased directly from the Stagecoach website. All the information you need is available on the Stagecoach website and to buy tickets.

An annual Student ticket for 2019-20 costs £720. Tickets can also be purchased termly, see the website for more details. A subsidy will be available from the College for students who purchase an annual Stagecoach ticket. Details of this refund will be sent to students in January 2020.

Matters in relation to how the service is operated including occurrences of late running should first be directed to Stagecoach at: south.enquiries@stagecoachbus.com
Stagecoach welcomes customer comments and suggestions because it helps them to improve their services and put things right when they have gone wrong.

By car

We've got some space for car parking for visitors, staff and students. Please read the Student Car Parking Policy before applying for your permit from the Student Hub available from 10th September. Proof of a valid driving licence and address must be shown to Student Hub staff before a parking permit will be issued.

Please don't drive to College if you can get a bus or train.

Our College is in a residential area and parking in the streets is limited, so please park with care and respect for our neighbours.
