The College encourages a close, three-way relationship between itself, the student and parents because this helps students to achieve their full potential.

Data Protection

The personal information you provide is passed to the Chief Executive of the Skills Funding Agency (“the Agency”) and/or the Department for Education, including the Education Funding Agency to meet legal responsibilities under the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009, and for the Agency’s Learning Records Services (LRS) to create and maintain a unique learner number (ULN). The information you provide may be shared with other partner organisations for purposes relating to education or training.

Learning Agreement

You undertake to:

  • Take responsibility for your own learning inside and outside of lessons by working hard, having excellent attendance, arriving to lessons on time and notifying us of absences.
  • Have a positive attitude to your learning by ensuring good organisation of notes, files and assignments. Take responsibility for ‘catching up’ on missed work due to absence, complete and submit assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Behave in a way which ensures the health and safety of all those in College.
  • Respect the needs of others for quiet around the site and maintain a high standard of tidiness around the College.
  • Have consideration and respect for our local community in all matters, including driving and parking in and around the College, at all times.
  • Treat everyone with respect and courtesy in the College and follow the Alton College Equal Opportunities and Diversity statement.
  • Return books and equipment lent to you by the College promptly.
  • Give top priority to your studies in term time ensuring that other activities such as driving lessons and part-time work do not conflict with your time at College.
  • Take holidays only outside term time. Permission must be granted by the Principal for any term time absence.
  • Not take any action which could bring the College into disrepute. Not smoke on the College campus other than in the designated areas. Not consume alcohol on the College premises or during the course of the College day. Not be in possession of drugs or paraphernalia, for whatever purpose, on the College site or have any involvement with drugs during the College day or on College run activities.
  • You will be given an Alton College student lanyard and ID card at enrolment. Your lanyard (with ID card) must be worn at all times whilst on the College campus.

Failure to follow any of the points above may lead to disciplinary action. With regard to drugs and alcohol the College has a zero tolerance policy that will result in recommendation for expulsion.

Marketing Permission Statement

Unless you explicitly decline your consent, your photograph or individual information (e.g. examination results) may be used in College marketing materials, promotional presentations, displayed on the College website or used for other marketing purposes, including through social media.

I understand that information collected about me will be kept for up to 12 years.
