The Chief Inspector of Ofsted published her Annual Report for 2009/10 on Wednesday 1st December.  The report lists Alton College as one of eight colleges to be judged by Ofsted as Outstanding and one of only two sixth form colleges (the other is in Manchester).
In addition, Alton College is one of only three colleges judged Outstanding in three consecutive inspections.

The Alton College Childcare Centre was given free edible trees from the Woodland Trust and Sainsbury's Active Kids. Toddlers from the group braved the cold and used their green fingers to plant the saplings in the College grounds.

Barabara Wills, the Childcare Centre Manager said “The children will benefit from the trees as they learn and watch how they grow through the seasons.”

Members of our local community cross examined some leading politicians on Friday night when Radio 4s ‘Any Questions?’ came to Alton College. What the audience hadn’t quite anticipated was the take over of the programme by one of our students as part of the Children's Commissioner for England's Youth Takeover day which happened to coincide with the day of the radio broadcast.
