2009 Ofsted report
We're one of only a few colleges in the country to be judged by Ofsted as Outstanding: Grade 1 in all five areas of inspection. That's impressive. Our students are getting great results and our staff are giving excellent support and guidance.
So, what's 'Ofsted'?
Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills. It keeps a formal eye on anyone who provides education (such as schools and colleges), checks their progress and makes sure they're doing things as well as they should.
Ofsted inspects our College every three to six years. The most recent inspection was in 2009 and it was really detailed - judging everything we do and how we do it. Ofsted looks at five areas and grades our College on a four-point scale, where 1 is 'outstanding' and 4 is 'unsatisfactory'.
How did we do?
In October 2009, Ofsted gave us these grades:
- effectiveness of provision - Outstanding: Grade 1
capacity to improve - Outstanding: Grade 1
achievements and standards - Outstanding: Grade 1
quality of provision - Outstanding: Grade 1
- leadership and management - Outstanding: Grade 1
This isn't the first time we've had all Grade 1s, though. Ofsted gave us the highest grades in all areas at our last inspection in 2006. That makes us the only college to achieve this standard on two consecutive inspections.
